Are they afraid the grass will get wet? ...and stop to grow?, or collect mud puddles? Any idea please!

  1. so when they start the game again the player dont slip around while trying to get the ball.

  2. To stop it getting slippy so that the players can come back to play on a dry court as soon as the rain has stopped....also the rain changes the speed and bounce of the ball.

  3. So the court isnt slipppery for when the players come back out after it has stopped raining!!

  4. Grass courts are one of the most sensitive grounds to play in. It holds in moisture even when rains have stopped and sky is clear, thereby making the court slippery.  Even a little bit of water can ruin and render the ground unusable for players.

Rains do not help the ball spin as expected either. Older balls with all the fluff will absorb moisture and not move as fast as it should.

If you had noticed at Wimbledon, they don't just cover the grounds, they also use towels to physically dry wet spots there.

Rains + crazy winds + grass are some of the few reasons why Wimbledon is one of the most difficult tournaments.
