What's with these car companies that expect us to get excited over the cars they make that get 32mpg? I've been driving cars that get AT LEAST that for 20 years. Whoop de do!! Give me a break! That's what cars should be getting when it comes to mpg at least!

  1. I drive an old 85 Pace Arrow motor home and would love to see 12 mpg!! the tow car is an 02 nissian that gets 27mph on the hwy. So you think that 32 is really rotten-you 'aint seen nothing yet.

  2. I know the 3 and 5 series was getting 29-31MPG  23 years ago And they are not light cars. Lots to get into so the sort version.  BMWs are not as fast off the line as you may think they only perform at 50 to 130MPH where the torque is.  They just torque along the highway, drive it around town stop and go and the MPG is like 15MPG.

The problem today is people just have to have options and the Gov requires lots of safety requirements.  And that adds a lot of weight...

  3. Perhaps not everyone knows about this?  And now since we are in an age where global warming is a big issue, saying how much mileage you can get is a big plus to know, regardless if it's a lot or a little compared to the past.  It simply makes you more aware that you're doing something to help the environment, or so it wants to make you think.

  4. and they always advertise the highway mpg when most driving is city commuting to work in stop and go traffic. As always they assume th public is stupid.

  5. wow 32mpg that would be great all the cars i seem to buy average around 20mpg.

Atm i get 17mpg out of the car i have.

  6. Older, smaller, lighter cars can easily get that.

But today's cars are much heavier with safety equipment and more standard features.

For today's standards, that is good.

  7. Yeah well those cars you drove are bare bones. Probably manual door locks, no CD/tape players, no automatic cylinder shutoff, no power windows, or even power steering, no top notch fit and finish- only pieces on the dashboard that fall off or snap off. No rusty/ creaking or squealing brakes, no material to make the cabin quieter, and most of all, no reliable engines, unless of course you have an old Rolls-Royce, then you'll probably have a tape player.

I'm all for old cars, but when it comes to quality and refinement, new cars have it going on.
