  1. LOL, maybe they make skates for wheelchairs to use in the skating rinks?  But seriously, it's a law that you have to accomodate for the handicapable.

  2. Grand parents and parents come to watch the kids skate.

So it doesn't have to be someone skating who uses the parking place.

  3. Because it's the law.  Every public building has to have handicapped parking spaces.  You know, not every handicapped person is in a wheelchair or unable to skate or watch people skate.

  4. For the same reason they have them at amusement parks. The handicapped people can still skate, I have seen it. Either with help or special skates.

  5. Haven't you ever participated in wheelchair races?  They are more fun sliding across the ice.

  6. The parking spaces are required by law and also did you know that some handicap groups actually go skating?  It's such a pleasure to see a child, teen or adult who may be handicapped but in their heart they can accomplish anything!

  7. I have often pondered this myself.  The spaces are required by law/ordinance, though in all the time I have spent at rinks working and skating, I have probably only seen a handful of them actually being used.  More often, I see hockey parents parking in them!
