Why do they have huge holes on concrete docks?

i was wondering what the purpose of the holes on the docks served...theyre like 30'X60'

  1. Probably to relieve either water or air pressure that might otherwise crack the concrete.


  2. Most likely places to anchor bollards and cranes.
