Because New Zealanders are more aware of environmental problems the we are. I have a friend who was involved with stopping the French from testing atom bombs in that part of the world and was also involved with stopping whaling there.  This is anectodal, but it sounded like there was much more consensus there about these issues.  

  They have those ads because it is a very real possibility.   We are undeniably destroying every ecosystem on earth.  You got you're standard right wing reactionary responses to this question.  I'm going to assume that you are more intelligent than that.  These people have not a clue what it means to be intellectually honest.  They don't understand that the world is more than just stuff.

What really is needed is a raising of the consciousness of the worlds population.  The environmental movement came largely out of a higher consciousness that has awakened in the world.  This may not be obvious, but there are spiritually enlightened people walking amoung you every day. They all are environmentalists and none are conservatives.  Try to imagine Jesus as a conservative and you'll see what I mean.

Pro War, Pro Torture, Pro rich and powerful at the expense of the average joe or poor person.

Anti environmental    Pro death penalty, and Pro judging of others morals and calling that morality.  Does any of that sound like the message of Jesus?  Or any other of the worlds faiths and paths to spiritual enlightenment.  Not on your life.

Children understand about the environment automatically.  They don't have heads full of nonsense like adults tend to.

it is apparent that the producers of such advertising are of the opinion that you are too smart to pursuade by argument. They find it more effective and expedient to sway you through emotion. It's up to you if you are going to be gullible enough to allow them to manipulate you.

To cause an emotion. Too many people rely on emotions to make decisions and not what can and will happen when the decisions to come true. The world is not ending but is not hunky dorie either. Everything is done to elicit emotions just look at ads for starving kids in Africa or the SEAS will rise and swallow all the coasts and cities if we do not stop global warming. Emotions and not logic will be the downfall of man.

See what a great example I elicited an emotion of anger at me. It is really easy to do.
