They are more like group hugs.

  1. In my opinion it is a way of keeping forwards in the game.

If you only had tap kick restarts, there would be no need for forwards per se.  All players would be classed as backs.

  2. on my team we use forwards quite a bit. when i say that i mean alot. our forwards kick *** and scrums are a way to see whose forwards are bigger bad asses than the rest lol

  3. They are used for knock ons, forward passes, accidental offside and when the ball goes into touch. They are more or less uncontested due to serious injuries being caused to players however we have recently seen on sky games heels against the head. They are not as stable a unit as the union scrums as there are no wing forwards in league.

  4. It creates more space for the backs to attack - that's all.

    Sub - scrum in league...

    Tough?! Really?

  5. why not? hugs?! have you been in one before? it's tough (i'm in second line). especially when the guys start giving up around me...and getting up from the dogpile after knocking everyone down (and vice versa)
