  1. If you think bus seats here are uncomfortable, you should travel in India,China,Africa etc.....

  2. The main reason that most public transportation, including buses, are uncomfortable is because of the cost.

When you slap down twenty grand for a vehicle, you expect it to be comfortable. It follows that when you slap down 50 cents for the bus, you shouldn't really set your sights to high.

The amount of seats and buses they create over a period of time is not equal to the amount of fare. Including your taxes in this situation and you still have to factor in all the other amenities that your department of transportation gives you.

  3. Hi. There are many kinds of buses. Some are for city routes, others for long distance commuting. The shorter the journey that the bus is designed for, the more uncomfortable it is likely to be as short-distance buses are designed to accommodate as many people in as small a space as possible in a vehicle that is as small as possible to negotiate city traffic. So in fact they are not made to be uncomfortable but at the same time they are not designed for comfort either, but instead for durability and low profile.

  4. Buses are made to transport the masses

    They are made Big..Tough...not comfortable

    Comfort costs extra

  5. If you travelled on a bus in the 1960's you would say that the buses today are comfortable. The buses dated back then had no door on the rear end (jump on / jump off) and the jerky and bumpy ride was so unpleasant.

  6. Thats so you dont feel comfortable and fall asleep.....so you dont miss your stop....lol

  7. Depends on the type of bus, and how the operator specs it out when ordering.

Transit buses get the "hard, uncomfortable, easy to clean, hard to vandalize" seats.

Suburban buses get softer seats, as people will be in them for a longer period of time.

Long haul (Greyhoun, Trailways, etc) get more comfortable seats.

Charter (tour buses) get even more comfortable seats.

Then you get some operators, such as the Chinese buses running the NY-Boston corridor that sacrifice comfort to get an extra row (or 2, or 3) of seats in by squeezing the seats closer together to generate more revenue.

  8. so homeless people dont pay one fair then spoend the whole day asleep on them.

  9. as they are made in the main by the same people who make car's, it is obvious, buses are uncomfortable so you dont want to ride in one hence you buy a car, well it could be so !!
