  1. maybe when it comes to any kind of service, people have to pay. it is still a kind of service.. haha nothing is free.

  2. Uhh in general, paper isn't profitable to recycle, nor is plastics or glass.

We don't even have curbside pick up where I am. They expect us to take our items to a central collection point. I got bad news for em though. I go right past that bin to the place where I can sell most of my wares, then return with the c**p. They can have that.

  3. probally because of gas cost if u live far away from the recycling plant they its a good chance the fee is for gas it should be free because we are helping the envoirment

  4. Most all of these issues are really about making money. Much the same as" carbon footprint" scams. Someone is making money by selling a "feel good" idea.

I have wondered the same thing. Why is it necessary that I buy special bags, separate items and wash them and compact them and have this extra cost, so I can give it to the business that got all of these laws passed in the first place to make money.

I have my ways of getting even. I have watched recycle truck dump all items into a single bin so the workers dont even particularly care either.

Same with lawn refuse. I pay good money to have my yard weed free. When I bag my clippings in their special bag that cost 2 bucks and they now have some excellant mulch that will produce high quality soil that they will sell next year. Pretty neat huh.

Kinda like selling icecubes to Eskimos and having them rally to buy more because they already drank the Kool Aid and have gone nuts.

  5. why do you need to purchase so many  products which have packaging or other which requre recycling? Pay up! It's only pennies per package, be responsible for your own purchases. We pay because we are responsible. No free rides.

  6. They are providing a service. They have employees, equipment, facilities, taxes to pay for just like every other business or agency.  You pay for your trash pickup, why would you expect recycling pick up to be free?

  7. Are you sure you are charged for the recycle bins? If you are, it may be to offset the initial costs of purchasing the bins or the cost of the trucks needed to pick the items up.

If you object to the fee, maybe you could take your recycling to the recycle center and opt out of the city program.
