  1. its about making a better car then the ones that are out now its like all new things they have to be  better then the old ones that are out

  2. Because its COOL, cars that go upto 220mph are even better!!!!

  3. because they are stupid!

  4. Maybe its for the blockbuster movies like 007 and MI3

  5. Cars are sold in more than one country, and in different countries the speed limit differs. Also - perhaps they would want to use the car to race. (on racetracks of course.) They also put it in because then, it sounds far more attractive to the consumer.

  6. cars aren't designed specifically for the areas in which they are driven in

    except right/left hand drive switching

in some places there are roads which don't have speed restrictions - i know Germany has a few

  7. It is impossible for the manufactures to build a car at only 80mph,no one will want to buy,in some places there is no limitation and sometimes when emergency there is no choice.

  8. It's only illegal if you get caught, until then, it's kinda fun.

Also, many places don't have set speed limits on certain roads.

  9. Pushing technological limits is something that should be strived for, building road cars that can travel at speeds in excess of 200mph takes a great deal of creative nouse, this is a good thing, if cars were restricted to 80 mph there wouldn't be such a drive to break previous records. Drivers are in control of the vehicle, they should take responsibility for driving safely. There are plenty of places where you can legally drive at over 80mph. Private land, race tracks, the Isle of Man, Germany...

There's enough Big Brother mentality already in this country, it should not be encouraged.

  10. well derr for races and actually the speed limit is 70mph!

  11. Attraction. The variety of us like to speed in our cars when no ones around with our mates. I think they make it for this reason, so teens and the young twenties folk can speed in their cars in fields and un-lawed area's where the policing levels are slim.

    Dan.

  12. The government shouldn't regulate how fast cars should go.

  13. It is very simple........they make cars that go that fast to make money and really dont care about the person that drives it or the person that might get injured, the manufacture just cares about the bottom line......"profit".

  14. Darwin calls it survival of the fittest. The reason cars go faster then the safe posted speed limit is to weed out the weak in society

  15. Like someone else said vehicles are sold in many markets and high top speeds are a result of increased engine power that makes the car more responsive at legal speeds. In places like Germany there are no speed limits on most of the highways so many German cars can hit 155.

  16. because even in the good old USA there are no speed limits in deserts and etc. as well as those rear gears that give you nice good gas milage also make your car go faster.

  17. because were not the only people who drive cars, some countries don't have speed limits on there highways so they can go as fast as they wont.
