Question:

Why do they only air certain tennis matches?

I like watching tennis, as well as other sports. But it seems they don't air every match in a tournament no matter which one it is, or what channel it comes on. Even if the coverage went on for 200 hrs I would want to catch every minute, or tivo it. Of course, with the more popular players most of their matches are shown, I would just like to see more matches with the lesser known players. How are they suppose to get noticed if they don't show any matches with them unless they're playing against certain opponents.

  1. The closet any tennis event has been at showing more than one match has got to be Wimbledon.  Their live link covered I think it was 9 courts that you are able to pick to watch.....It was great.  I wanted to see another court and was able to watch it live.  Unfortunately this site is live on-line during Wimbledon, but until they start winning or make a strong impression, you wont see them.  It also depends on the country hosting the event.  For the US you will see more US players than you didnt know existed, because it is the US and you wont see a match that they should have shown instead.

I know that during the US Open, USA channel is going to cover as many matches as possible.

Also the ATP tour you can watch ALL matches for their events live on-line.  That is a great website.

Well, enjoy what you can, and if something was exciting and missed you will bet they will replay it.  :)

  2. the tv networks are only worried about their ratings so they show the good players, but i usually have no problem with that, except when here in america they show lowly americans playing another no-name instead of nadal or federer. i think the top players should get more air time though because they worked hard to get tot he top and the people deserve to be able to see them and know who they are its good for tennis and everybody else

  3. They genearlly only air the matches of people widley known. Excpet for wimbledon who I am pretty sure airs all their matches. But If Federer and Nadal play they air it and if the William sisters play they air it for sure.

  4. if they win they will get noticed

and if they beat a more well known player they will def get noticed

  5. Yeah, i think it's all about the channel. Like, where i live, i receive ESPN Argentina (they don't really say the Argentina part, but they always show the schedule for Argentina and also all the sports commentators have an Argentine accent....so yeah, ESPN Argentina) and i get to watch all the matches that have Argentine players. Usually, it's like 1. Argentine players, 2. South American players, 3. Top 10 players and...then they'll show whatever they have if there's nothing left.

I really want to see Gulbis play, but that means he'd have to either a. play an Argentine player, b. play a South American player c. play a top 10 player (preferrably Nadal or Federer 'cause my ESPN loves them) or d. all of the above. Life sucks :P
