What is the driving purpose behind this? What is wrong with dvds going between North America, Europe and Asia? Why can't they make DVD players to read all regions?

  1. Benjamins Baby!!

    Wooooo!

  2. They can and as a consumer you can ask for a "region free" player.

They simply do this to maximize their profits. The same goes for example for ps games and blu-ray discs.

This is legalized grand theft if you ask me.

  3. It's all about the money.

  4. to control the market and for economic and/or money reasons.

    example:

imagine an European movie release when the movie came to the US cinema it will be already on DVD in Europe so if all dvd were region free the people just buy the dvd and no one will came to the movies.

  5. $ and to help with bootlegging.
