Why do they put a tube in the pot for the indoor plants?

I see them in the pot at the malls? hotels? and most indoor places.

This is so that the water reaches the roots and doesn't just evaporate. This is more important for large plants. I have seen this done with large plants outside too.

I think it will be so they can feed and water the plant direct into where the roots are it Will be a cleaner way to do it and it would save losing the water through evaporation if they just poured it on top of the soil especially if it was indoor mall
