Question:

Why do they put gasoline pick ups near the front of the tank?

Ok, so wouldn't the logical thing be to put the gas pick up in the rear of the gas tank? I mean, most of the time you run out of gas going uphill because no gas can get to the pick up in the front of the tank, because all the gas has moved to the back end of it. So if they put the pick up in the rear, you wouldn't run out of gas going up-hill, and most likely run out of gas while going downhill, where you can at least coast closer to your destination, or safely to the side of the road. Get me? So what's the deal?

  1. well it actually doesn't matter because the tube of gas that goes to the engine goes almost all the way back and there is no possibility that the engine will suck gas out, only if you didn't put gas in it.

  2. You can't fool us.  Tell us, honey, how many different cars have you run out of gas in.  100? 200?  Let us know. Troll.

  3. It's in different places in different cars. I think the main concern is cars stalling under hard braking back in the carburetor mechanical fuel pump days. I have 3 cars, and each one has it in a different place. My Town & Country has it in the back of the tank, my VW R32 has it in the center, and I have a Mercedes with a swinging moving pickup. I think your point is well taken though for the cars built as you describe.

  4. put more petrol in?
