Because if you start throwing scones sure as shooting someone will throw scones back. If they're old your house will shatter and you'll be living in a tent. If they're fresh you'll use a small ocean's worth of Windex and that's not good for the environment. It's just better not to start. (Plus, I think it's illegal in the UK to throw tea time materials. So if you're in that part of the world you have to worry about the Bobbies.)

It depends on if they are fresh or if they are day old scones.

If stale, they can be classified as lethal weapons.
