I'm no expert, but..

Some models do a lot of things behind the scenes to advance in the industry.

If you sleep with the right person, you'll advance. It's not just like that in modeling, but in many areas of business.. especially in the entertainment business..

I've never heard that said, but I would assume that the people who say it are thinking of modelling as making money using your body, which is what prostitutes do.  

I'd argue that there's a HUGE difference, but I can see where someone could equate the two.
