  1. Because not everyone is innocent. That is to be decided by a court of law. However, some people are obviously guilty. For example, a drunk driver who failed his breathalyzer. Also, depending on the seriousness of the charge, a person can post bond. But answer me this, when they found body parts in Jeffrey Dahmers apartment, did you want him running free until they proved his guilt? I think not.

  2. They only do that if they think you are a danger to others or are likely to abscond.

Usually bail is set, this can either be monetary, conditional or unconditional.

  3. SO PEOPLE WONT RUN AWAY.

  4. Because they (the suspects/defendants) cannot afford bail, may be considered a flight risk or the crime was so horrendous in nature that preliminary evidence is overwhelmingly against the suspect.

  5. They lock you up in jail so that you will not commit another crime, or run away and not appear at the court hearing.

If you are locked up, and someone will provide 'bail' for you, you will be released. Providing bail involves someone pledging money or property that you will not run away, and will appear in court on your hearing date. An individual with money and/or property can often provide 'bail' for herself/himself.

If you are proven guilty by the court, and a sentence is imposed, you get credit for the time you have already been in jail.

I hope you are planning on staying out of jail. It's a very unpleasant experience.

  6.   So that if you are guilty, you are not left free.It also gives them time to investigate and evaluate.

  7. they are stupid?
