  2. The iodine is a mineral that most people miss in their diets especially if they do not eat a lot of shell fish.  

    (hence the sale iodized salt)

    The reason the sale salt with out iodine because there are some people allergic to shell fish and also iodine.

  5. Iodine is important for your Thyroid gland to function properly. In may areas of the world Iodine is not abundant in local crops. In the USA were we have adequite Iodine in most of our food stocks it is not required and many people live there entire life without sodium salt or its additive Iodine.   7. Salt is rich in iodine. But iodized salt it is a well refined salt free from  impurities.

  8. Iodine is an essential substance the body needs to function properly, and salt as well is one of the minerals needed by the body. So it was a marketing breakthrough to just sell salt with it being iodized. But, as you may know, there are many people who cannot take iodine this way because dietary problems and they still require the salt.

    Salt is used as well in many forms and in multitudes of ways, from cooking and pickling to roadway snow removal and cleaning applications. All these uses tend to require the salt used to be either ground to a specific size, formed in various shapes, mined and sold raw, and combined with ingredients to improve it's functionality for the use it is intended for.
