Why do they sell pudding like this?

In the grocery store, why is Jell-o pudding kept cold while snack pack is put on the shelf?

I would guess that the snack pack brand has more preservatives, which means it needs no refrigeration.  :)

That's called "shelf stable".

Did you ever notice that they even have shelf stable milk these days?

Give me the old fashioned way anyday.

Nothing shelf stable tastes real.
