  1. I don't know but they've done it since I started going to games in '87.

Oh wait, apparently there is a reason, see below.

  2. Because John Denver is (was) an Oriole fan. Several years ago the Tigers played that song at their games until they found out John Denver was an Oriole fan.

  3. Its tradition most likely, they started back in.. the 70s i believe to reach out to a younger audience.. and it stuck ever since

    according to the article below:

    hehe Angels have "Buttercup" lol!!

you know "why do you build me up (build me up) buttercup baby just to bring me down~ i need you more than anyone darlin!!...." yeah

  4. For The same reason they sing "sweet caroline(neil diamond) " at red sox games. Because the people who pick the music have no taste in music

  5. LMFAO!

  6. Idk...

I think it may be because John Denver (that's who sings it) was a Maryland boy.

  7. cuz it mite be some famous song in maryland

  8. The tradition dates back to the 1970s when the song was first played as a way to reach out to a younger audience. It caught on with both the fans and the players and it became a mainstay. Whenever they tried to play something else, the fans were upset, so they always returned it.
