Why do they still have scrums in rugby league if they always go with feed?

I used to play rugby league many years ago when we had real scrums. Today the scrum is nothing like the original concept of two hookers competing for the ball, and the weight/strength of the pack also being a factor. Today it is a farce, and inmy view just makes the forwards taking part look silly. Do away with it, and replace it with some alternative means of restarting the game.
