  1. Duh b/c kids have babies at age 10 now!

  2. it helps them to be prepared and know whats going on and i learned like when i was nine and i agree that it is good to know at a young age but not to young

  3. Children are taught s*x and should be because it is a fundamental part of life the world revolves around it, it is life and if you don't understand it at a young age how will you cope with the worlds sexual environment

  4. the legal age isnt 18, there is no legal age, they teach kids ur age to show u the consequences, there trying to prevent u from doin it

  5. Yeah, it is very weird esp. since over 20 girls in my school are pregnant. Most are 15-16 years old. They actually show it off too...it's the common thing. The oddest part is we're supposed to be the best school around. No offence, but it isn't a "ghetto". I'm beginning to wonder if warning kids of the outcome of s*x is the best way to go about it. I know the first time I had s*x-ed, it made me more curious. Given, I was about 8-9 and new the basics, but still. They do go a little too indepth with it.

  6. There is no real legal age for s*x. 12 year olds can have s*x with other 12 year olds and do. They teach s*x in schools so parents will not have the responsibility. Our children are getting sexually active at younger ages.

  7. Because s*x is being "done" earlier and earlier. They teach it to us so we know all the bad things and try to refrain from doing it. [Unfortunately, the boys in my grade(7th) just take the class as a joke and... yeah. They like learning about it, but they're going to do it anyway.]

  8. cuz once you hit double digits youre fair game.

  9. I agree its odd but as a parent I welcome any advice/education from professionals at school. They don't go into great detail in 5th grade. It also gives them the freedom to ask those embarrassing questions that they are keeping from me. Kids now are engaging in s*x at a younger age. The knowledge they gain to chose to abstain, prevent pregnancy and protect from diseases are vital. I hope my kids will make the best choices when it come to s*x. I hope they will wait a long, long time.

  10. I don't know. I'd think it would just make 13 year olds pregnant.

  11. Because if you haven't noticed but teenagers are having s*x younger and younger. And by the school giving out some education on the matter they are trying to educate youngsters about the issue so they can protect themselves and make good choices. Which alot of times doesn't happen anyway.  Have you noticed there are quite a few teens and some younger than teens that end up pregnant? So yes they need to be taught by the school, parents, church. Etc.... They need to correct knowledge so they can make informed descions since kids these days seem so h**l bent on growing up so d**n fast!!!

  12. because nowadays, young kids are having s*x! duh!!!

  13. I was taught about "health" in 5th grade -- a lot of girls get their periods in 5th grade -- they didn't teach us about the "act" -- I don't know where your kids go to school but I would definitely have a problem with that.

  14. yea ur ryt it is gross but wat if one time u try to but u dont know wat ur doin and u start having pains and u get pregnat u wont know  wat to do cause u never got the talk about s*x and how u do it...........and u need to know how cause if u dont know how babys come out then i geuss ur on ur own and no one will be there for u to have ur baby u wont know wats happening!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. The legal age isn't 16, it's 18, like the question says... and I think they start early because kids' bodies start changing around that age (sometimes even earlier). It goes with the education on puberty. They have to explain what the reason is behind all the changes or it wouldn't really make sense. The sooner kids know about it, the more time they have to make good decisions (with the help of parents!).

  16. Because  it is part of the Abstinence program. The schools try to teach students why they should wait to have s*x in most public school systems. Plus, some teenagers do engage in such activity.

  17. Because theyre also teaching them about puberty, which they have to learn that age.

  18. well so kids are educated about it!!! and they know about condoms birthconlrol etc....

  19. it was in 5th grade when they thought the girls about their menstrual cycle, and then 7th when we had the s*x class.

I think they mostly do it so that they are informed of the consequences, getting pregnant and such, i dont think they do a very good job at it. i do find it wierd since kids that young arent having s*x, well maybe in middle school, but 5th grade is a bit to young for that.

  20. Its in case s*x happens.. then they know how to be safe about it. Yes.. some 11 year olds are experimenting with s*x. Sad huh?

  21. So they dont get raped.

  22. good question... I've actually never thought about that.

maybe just to make them aware of it?

    I have NO idea. lol

  23. Because that is when some kids hit puberty. And they don't want them to have s*x before the age 18, but some people do. Its really sad and everything, but they have to learn. My parents taught me about it, because they didn't me to go to the assembly's and everything. So yeah, that's pretty much why.

  24. because there are people in grade five who think it is cool to do and they are trying to show them the consequences

  25. They need to shove it in the kids' heads at a very early age.

Plus middle school is just around the corner for them....and you know how that goes....then two or three years later they're  in high school, and 42% of the kids in high school are sexually active....

  26. It's not just how to have s*x that they learn about - it's what is happening to their bodies - puberty can start at grade 5 or even earlier. It's also about how they are feeling urges to do with hormones and how to deal with them, ie how to understand what their body is saying and what their head is saying and how to make the right choices. It's about information

  27. 5th grade?? wow... we learned about it in grade 7-8

  28. Not really...By the time that they reach 12, over 50% of kids have had s*x...I learned in 8th grade in school...I learned alot earlier from my parents.

  29. you're right no one should know what s*x is until they're 18, when they'll open up their "what s*x is" pamphlet and realize the reason they've had 3 kids in the past 4 years is because they've been having unprotected s*x the whole time. yeah, super idea. thanks.

  30. So they don't sneak out and have ear s*x.

  31. With so many kids having kids, it's no surprise that a school offers a class on the matter.  Kids are way smarter than in my day, I feel like a dunce when my nieces show me their homework.  And with that said, kids feel pressure to grow up a lot faster these days, my youngest brother wasn't even in high school when he brought home his first child (he was 13, she was 14).  Any measurement of precaution is a good thing.  It may seem a little weird, but it is most definitely needed.
