  1. cause if one person did it we'd all want to do it! and that isnt safe!


  2. The shades must be up so that you and the crew can see outside, in case an emergency evacuation is required.  With the shades up, you can see if an exit is blocked, if there is fire outside, and so on.

    For the same reason, cabin lights are dimmed during take-off and landing at night.

  4. So that your eyes adjust to the light levels outside. Might be critical in an emergency evacuation.

    For the same reason they ask you to close the blinds for a night landing.

  6. I think because a movie is going to be shown and the light from outside interferes with the screen. Movie usually ends just before plane lands so window shades can go up again.
