  1. Detroit Red Wings have been a good team all year every year. Back then the Red Wings has had alot of talent and some how won the Stanley Cup each year. So Detroit was know called Hockey Town. It takes 12 wins to win the Cup. Or back then im not sure but i guess it took 8 wins. So anyway the 8 wins was all it took to win. The Red Wings won alot and down in Detroit was a Bay or a fish shop iguess. So 8 wins..8 legs on a octopus. Now they Throw that octopus every playoof game to reprent how many games it takes to win the Stanley Cup.

  2. Someone sneaks it in and throws it on the ice. Its a Red Wing tradition to do before the game starts.

  3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detroit_Red... Check it out. And they don't "through" the octopus. They throw it.

  4. Back when it started, the eight tentacles of an octopus symbolized the eight wins necessary to win the stanley cup.

  5. Throwing them in the stands is frowned upon. Throwing them on the ice saves a lot of wear and tear on your nose.
