  1. The main reason is because we race during the afternoon, so the trainers, jockeys, and stable staff need to exercise the horses, get back to the yard and then leave to travel to the races.

  2. The horses need to get their workouts in the morning because the track will require everyone to be off the track by late morning so they can prepare the surface for the afternoon races. Trainers usually work the horses in training early in the morning and then go home to shower and change and come back and watch the afternoon races. So, trainers have a reason to want to get all the horses exercised early in the day.

  3. I think maybe because it's cooler?

  4. Because the track is open and they are holding races in the afternoons.

You need to work a horse on the track and in the early am hours the track is not busy and they are not working on the surface. So you are free to breeze or work your horses. Run them through the starting gates and get a gate card if needed. Also the Jockeys are not riding in races at the time if they are the ones riding as the exercise rider. Many of the jockeys do also work as exercise riders.

Gives the trainers time to see all the races and watch the competition work in races. The trainer needs to see what the other horses run like and how well they do. Keeps him up on what is going on with horses that he will have to run against.

  5. There are 2 reasons.  1.  It is cooler in the morning.  As it can get hot in the afternoons.  2.  Because of afternoon racing.  You can't train and race on track at the same time of day.

  6. the main reason is that if they have eaten hay during the day or before they have trained they will not be able to train as hard on a full stomach, as a result they are trained early in the morning and have the rest of th day to recover. also it makes sense when you think about it!!

  7. probably because it is cooler and there well rested.I'm not sure.

  8. mainly because trainers, jockeys have to go to race meetings during the day and this is the only time to get the job done.In the uk in the winter, the jumping trainers have to get to meetings for a start of 12 noon,it is dark untill 8am and back dark again at 5pm so there is only a smal slot in which to get the work done in available light.in summer time, the light is not really an issue but it is cooler in the early mornings and the air is fresh.it does not really matter when a horse is worked as long as it is the same routine as they thrive on routine.
