Why do they use humane methods when they execute someone?

I hear nowadays they do lethal injection and the person dies with a minimal amount of pain.

Wouldn't it make more sense to kill them as painfully as possible to make the person suffer. So he will have payed for his crimes?

Maybe beheading?

  1. It's paid for his crimes.

I'd say firing squad would be the best.

  2. a person is executed when a court determines they are such a danger to society that no term of confinement would be appropriate justice for the crime.  justice is used to try to right wrongs that have been done.  justice is not supposed to be about revenge.  executing a prisoner in a purposely painful way would be more about seeking revenge than seeking justice.

  3. There's a clause in the Constitution about cruel and unusual.

  4. We've got enough trouble keeping capitol punishment without convicts screaming and flailing about as they get executed.

  5. So we'll feel better about murdering a murderer to show everyone that murdering someone is wrong and should be punished by murdering them

  6. The objective of execution is not to inflict pain.  It is to stop the convicted from ever committing a similar crime again and to deter would be criminals from taking up the life.

  7. yeah that would make since but thats still kinda cruel and actually killing them painfully would make you similar to them right???????
