  1. Because they're generally not allowed to use humans.

It is not always rats, they use all sorts of animals.

Rodents are common in labs becausethey are cheap and are anatomically similar enought to humans to make rough conclusions.

  2. Do you want to volunteer?

  3. They aren't allowed to use humans so they use animals. But what makes us so superior over the rats?

It's just like the Holocaust if you ask me.

  4. The rat has his drawbacks; a friend was working for his PhD using rats at Stanford, and one Sunday morning went to the lab to feed them and found they had all died during the night from some contagious bug.

Skinner used pigeons; he claimed they're just as smart and hardier, but he was a psychologist.

  5. because rats are common cheap and light weight plus its easy to effect them think about it it would take about ten times longer to get a cat or dog sick then a rat (and here's a secret if they used dogs or cats people would be upset but not many people care about rats)

  6. its because they are mammals too and are much similar to human beings.

so it like if a drug works on the rat it will work on human too..

    hope this helped :)
