why do you lose your local radio station whille going threw a city like for example say you stay in st louis and going to memphis and you get the memphis station but then going back to st louis lose the memphis station and get back the st louis station why does that happen

  1. Please address this question to the Federal Communication

    Commission.  Don't change a word.  They need the work.


  2. your not in your local city anymore, you are in another. So you local station does not exist anymore. You have to do a scan to find the current local station

  3. Radio stations are LOCAL.  When you leave the area, the signal gets weak.

    Why is this a secret?

  4. Besides the obvious, radio station signals are only as strong as their towers. The strongest radio signals come from the AM band- which accounts for why you can get WLW that comes out of Cincinnati all the way in Florida.

    Atmospheric conditions can also effect reception. I have several local channels that have strong signals from far away from their towers- except when I get downtown where there are tall building.
