Why do throughbred racehorses nibble the neck of the outrider's horse; yet the other horse never reciprocates?

  1. because know other horse is better than them.just like any other animal they know who is dominate one.


  2. The racehorse isn't actually doing anything bad.  The dip right in front of the withers is actually a spot that horses like to be nibbled on... it itches there... horses in the field sometimes will nibble each other there.

    Also, those lead ponies are trained to put up with a lot.  They're very calm horses and they're very broke to behave well in the post parade.

    Some of the outriders get mad at the jockey for letting the horse nibble on their lead pony though.  Fillies especially are nervous horses and jockeys will let them get away with a little bit more to keep them happy until the race.  Outriders might be a little mad at the jocks, but it's better than having your horse mad at you.
