  1. The electricity causes more ozone to form, and that has an energizing effect upon humans and other animals.

  2. cause they look like color farts?

  3. I also feel more alive during a thunder storm.   Maybe it has something to do with the air being charged. Maybe you should ask this in the meteorology section.

  4. It has to do with the way the electrical discharge of a lightning

bolt affects the neurons in your brain.

  5. maybe because when there is a storm u r creative because u r cooped up in the house  :]

  6. sis senor

  7. I haven't heard whether this hypothesis has really been confirmed or not, but you can find a lot about how negative ions in the air affect our moods, our alertness, etc. Thunderstorms, specifically lightning, tend to ionize the air which carries the negative ions from the storm, and perhaps there is a connection.

Again, I'm not stating this as a fact, since I haven't researched it any further to give you a more definitive yes or no. But below is a WebMD article on this very topic. Here is an excerpt:

"Generally speaking, negative ions increase the flow of oxygen to the brain; resulting in higher alertness, decreased drowsiness, and more mental energy," says Pierce J. Howard, PhD, author of The Owners Manual for the Brain: Everyday Applications from Mind Brain Research and director of research at the Center for Applied Cognitive Sciences in Charlotte, N.C."

I would also consider the placebo effect -- perhaps you just find thunderstorms invigorating and this affects your mood in a certain way.

  8. the rain comforts your mind for you to easily think out and it has something to do with being bored in the house, you want to do something or just be a couch potato and watch tv, thunderstorms make me sleepy !

  9. Electrical fields are fluxing around you.  They make birds run and hide and snakes and butterflies hide too.  The moon also affects our moods/perceptions/creativity.

  10. Thank you!  I don't know the answer but I thank you for making me feel less weird.  I thought I was the only person who felt that way!

When I was a child and it rained, all the other kids sulked in their houses.  I on the other hand came to life.  I took out all my crayons and other craft materials and had a ball.  Now that I'm older I get into the mood to cook a nice dessert or do something creative like paint or some craft.

It has nothing to do with being stuck in the house... it's more like a drive, a rush, a sense of wellbeing and creativity.  Whatever it is, I love it.

Amazing.  Am curious to see what replies we get.

  11. Lighting puts a lot more electricity into the air. The world gets an extra push when there is an thunderstorm.

For example, women who are in labor and are having a hard time will suddenly start birthing if a storm hits. The electricity is stimulating. That's how my brother got to be born naturally and not cesarean.

If you're getting a massage, the electricity will make the massage feel better.

Electricity is a great thing. It stimulates the mind and body.

  12. I think people's moods change when the weather changes. There's something called S.A.D. (Seasonal Affective Disorder) ..that happens to some people when the seasons change.  Maybe you had good experiences when you were younger when it stormed. Maybe someone made you feel safe..or maybe like the other poster..you got out your creative kit during that time. That's interesting that the electricity in the air could have anything to do with it. Maybe the barometric pressure does too.  Just be glad that it gives you inspiration instead of fear. If something fearful or depressing had happened to you as a child during a storm..you might feel differently. (Maybe you're stepping into an "imprint" you left at an earlier time.) (I'm trying to sound "smart" lol...I really don't know much about imprints!) Or maybe it's your "inner child"..

  13. i guess it's the electricity in the air...same thing happens to me...ATM there is a big storm rolling in from the blue mountains and the air is electric!!! am I'm considering doing some crafting as I'm feeling really really creative and feel like using earthy colours...Sydney Au =)
