Why do top sprinters get injured so easily?

So Tyson g*y pulled up lame in the 200 meters--severe cramp in his left hamstring. Does anybody know why these sprinters pull muslces seemingly so easily? It's 200 meters! There must be something I'm missing. You'll watch the top marathon runners click off almost 4:40 min/mile; if they cramp up at mile 18, that I understand. But how are these sprinters not completely loose and ready for the short distance? Are their body's so much more finely tuned that anything can make them injured, or are they faking (remember Michael Johnson in the 150meter showdown?)

I ran all through high schoo and college. Granted not a top athlete, but still I can't figure out these sprinters. It's like baseball players. How do you get injured playing baseball? I understand if you run into something, but how do you pull a hamstring in baseball? Meanwhile, soccer players go for 90 min all season without pulling a muscle. Are baseball players just out of shape?

  1. well you pull muscles tighten up so if your going at high speeds the muscles are moving a lot and if you didnt stretch properly then the are tight becasue you didnt warm up
