Why do trash and recycling always get picked up early in the am? Why not later in the day?

Wouldn't it make more financial sense to have the trash/recycling collectors work during the day instead of the wee early hours of the am?

because it avoids traffic and makes their job go quicker.

Actually, trash pickup runs all day in most cities. I've done it, so I know! You just live in an area where they get to it early, which is good. The earlier in the day it is, the cooler it is for the trash pickup guys. It also gets the trash out of the streets before traffic picks up. But in most places, it takes all day to pick up all the trash around town. Depending on where you live, if you get yours picked up early, then you're just lucky.

p.s. Why would when they work have any impact in a "financial sense?" Working early in the morning doesn't change how much money they make. What is more, what if they started later and all the trash in the city didn't get picked up because they ran out of time? Hmm...

that depends on how close you are to the depot.

Also its better to have all that mess out of the way off the streets right?!?

Bees and flies are less active in cooler and darker times; plus the weather is easier on the workers.
