I'm quite shy but DID talk and get on with everyone in my photograophy AS class but my tutor who I thought liked me has written that i didstanced myself from them from the outset and didnt take part, I admit i am quiet and dont scream across the room at other pupils but I participate. Does it really annoy you when it seems teachers lie or exaggerate on reports which would not help a childs self esteem if they are shy or really uncomfortable with themselves.

  1. I am sure they did not lie.. they only write down what they perceive.. you are making progress and you are starting to come out of your shell but that is part of the report that you are keeping to yourself a lot .. if the teachers see that you are talking more to others I am sure in the next report this will be mentioned... They are only saying that you stay away from the crowd of the class.. that you may talk to one person.. but that you are shy... so don't worry about it.  just try to fit in and get along with everyone.. you don't have to be the life and soul of the class.. just be open minded and approachable and say hi to everyone in class... and smile...to everyone.. that is a start.. if you are a quiet person that is ok... just don't be a loner in class...try to participate a little more. you are not expected to turn from being a  quiet person into an extrovert.. just be approachable... more than you are.. xx

  2. Being less than outgoing, myself. I have found that teachers and superiors, often made me look more outgoing, than I actually am.

  3. People rarely see themselves as others do.

People think Simon Cowell is really fair and honest when he criticises other singers. Until he tells them they are c**p singers. Then they think he is an idiot who doesn't know what he is talking about

  4. Typical! Things don't turn out as you expect, or as you wished, and it is someone else's fault. Tutors have no reason to lie, so talk to them. Obviously something about YOU or what YOU are doing is substandard. Ask and you shall be told - if you can face it. That's life.

  5. I got my college report today too... I have a D on attendance!  I thought I was perfect!  But hey, this is the opportunity to see yourself from others point of view.  Your tutor didn't lie, she just said it how she saw it.  Your tutor wouldn't just blatantly lie about these things, what would be the point in that?  Don't take it so personally ;-)

  6. That always happened to me when I was at school.  Teachers assumed I was a bit thick because I was really quiet - they thought I didn't understand the work, but I did.

I don't think your tutor is lying, they have probably just got the wrong end of the stick, so I wouldn't worry about it.

  7. Perhaps you should ask him to explain himself. It could be simply a matter of perception after all, you were just one of many pupils.

  8. As a former tutor I admit we do not always get everything correct.  This is what the tutor perceived of you. Have you spoke with any of your classmates that you think you can trust and ask them their opinion without telling them the reason you are asking how well you participated in the course?" If they say the same then it is likely you will have to accept this is how you come over. If they say differently then you could challenge the report. Also can you submit evidence that you participated?......as in on what particular day you answered, demonstrated your newly acquired skills in photography etc. If you can't then ensure that you keep a diary next term of when you speak out and participate in the class.  If you disagree with the report so much that you intend taking it further these things are the evidence you require to change the report.

  9. I know what you mean. They always say I need to participate more and ask if I need help... I DO participate...theough he prpbably doesn't notice cause he's too busy noticing the girls that always yell to get his attention... and I'm not going to ask for help if I know what I'm doing am I? Grrr.
