  1. Contribute to solving:

-World hunger (it takes more energy to raise and produce animal meat than the meat itself provides)

-Deforestation (forests and rain forests are being cut down to provide grazing land for animals)

-Soil erosion (grazing animals that eat the grass strip the land and make it vulnerable to wind and soil erosion, thereby destroying prime agricultural land)

-Disease (vegetarian diets reduce the risk of heart disease, atherosclerosis, diabetes, obesity, cancer...)

-It's cheaper (dairy and meat products are expensive.)

-Vegetarians will not contract mad cow disease!

-It's cool; (Albert Einstein was vegetarian, Paul McCartney of The Beatles is.)

Every year we feed our livestock enough food to feed 250,000,000 people while in the world 30,000,000 people die of starvation

-20 vegetarians can live off the land required by one meat eater

-Every 3 seconds a child dies of starvation somewhere in the world

-If Americans reduced their meat consumption by 10% it would free 12,000,000 tons of grain - enough to feed 60,000,000 people (the population of Great Britain)

-If all Americans became vegetarian, it would free enough grain to feed 600,000,000 people (the population of India)

-Intensification in animal farming has displaced 1,000,000's of people from their traditional lands - eg. indigenous people in south & central america, native americans in north america & crofters in Great Britain - this is continuing today

People displaced from their lands into cities succumb to dietary deficiency, diseases, parasites & opportunistic diseases

-In third world countries 1 in 10 babies die before their first birthday

-The UK imports about 46,000,000 worth of grain from third world countries to feed our livestock

-Due to overgrazing 850,000,000 people live on land threatened by desertification & over 230,000,000 already live on land so severely desertified that they are unable to sustain their existence & face imminent starvation

-1,000,000,000 people in the west gorging on meat & dairy leave 1,000,000,000 to waste away & 3,500,000,000 teeter on the brink

-Humans are not carnivores. We are not meant to eat meat. Our intestines are way too long and the meat just rots in our bodies. Gross.

-Humans are the only species that aren't weened off of milk while babies. It is unnatural for any species to drink the milk of another's.

-Avoiding meat is one of the best and simplest ways to cut down your fat consumption. Modern farm animals are deliberately fattened up to increase profits. Eating fatty meat increases your chances of having a heart attack or developing cancer.

-Every minute of every working day, thousands of animals are killed in slaughter-houses. Pain and misery are common. In the US alone, 500,000 animals are killed for meat every hour.

-There could be cow brains in your lipstick, or your makeup brush could be a squirrel's tail.

-Gelatin (jello) is made from pig's bones and hooves.

-The pain and suffering animals go through is more horrible than you could ever imagine.

-Unwanted male chicks (because they can't lay eggs) are gassed or pulped while their sisters go to the battery sheds.

-Chicks are debeaked without anaesthetic to prevent them injuring each other in the unnaturally confined conditions they are kept in - this is equivalent to having your fingernails pulled out without anaesthetic.

-Animals travel between farms & to slaughter in overcrowded transporters with no food or water - resulting in stress, injuries & deaths - legal requirements are widely ignored

-Cows would naturally live upto 20 years but are slaughtered after 5-7 years when their milk production begins to fall

-Veal calves are confined in stalls in the dark, unable to move & are fed on pigs blood , chocolate & dried milk (we are drinking the rich fresh milk of their mothers)

-Cows only give milk for 10 months after they have a calf - so they are routinely artificially inseminated (ie. mechanically raped) to keep them pregnant & milking - their calves are taken away (usually at 12 hours old) for meat or export to veal crates

-Cows were fed on the ground up remains of other cows & sheep - the result is thought to be BSE (mad cow disease) in the USA cattle are fed partly on recycled plastic pellets

-Calf leather comes from animals killed at just 2 weeks old

-vegetarians and Vegans live longer than people who eat meat.

    -Many triathlon athletes are Vegans

There are sooo many more reasons to become vegetarian and you can search them on google. Basically, we're not meant to eat meat and the veggie diet is way better for your health and everybody else's. It makes you feel cleaner and happier. Also, think of the animals!

  2. I don't think vegetarians are better. Some vegetarians as you can see, however, may suffer from that illusion.

Vegetarians don't save 100 animals a year. That is as a myth.

  3. 1. It's healthy.

    2. It's natural.

    3. No eating blood, pus, sh*t, or steroids.

    4. You're not funding animal torture.

  4. I recently read in a book that vegetarians live longer and are more healthy.

How people package meat can hurt the enviorment.

    I am a vegiterian

  5. None

  6. YES

  7. vegetarians suck.  I love that new Wendy's commercial where he says I'm a meatatarian and I love Anthony Bourdain!

  8. Less risk of having colon or intestinal problems, such as cancer.

  9. Vegetarians are usually supporting animals rights. Did you know that some chickens never get to spread their wings out fully in a lifetime???

Did you also know that the reason veal is so lean is because the calf never gets to move more than a few steps in it's lifetime. Did you know that cows are injected painfully with hormones to make them produce more milk??? Did you know pigs are scalded when they are killed??

You get the picture. Meat is murder.

  10. saving the animals!!! watch the video on the slaughter houses! u save 100 animals a year by not eating meat!!! help our voiceless friends from being tortured and abused!!!!!!! it is horriable!!

  11. this is all you need to know.

  12. I've tried my very hardest to become a vegetarian, but I didn't do it. I'm so hooked on meat I can't help myself. I feel horrible and bad after I eat a steak or a pork chop, but personally I think it's hard to transfer. You always have a feeling in the pit of your stomach, and wonder, what if a cow took my children and hung them upside down and ate them? At least, that's for me, I don't know about other people...

  13. i dont, or course you save tons of animals, but meat is the main source for protein, and if you dont eat meat, then you will have to find it in other ways like a protein bar or pills. some vegitarians dont eat anything from animals, but others, can drink, milk, or eat egs, because the animal is not being killed for this, so it really depends how strict you are with your self.

  14. vegetarianism does not protect against cancer in fact vegetarians are more prone to cancers of the nervous and reproductive organs.

    * No scientific study demonstrates that eating a diet high in fat or cholesterol causes heart disease

Vegetarian in india they have the shortest life span on earth they bodies are weak and frail their heart disease rate is double that of meat eaters

The vegan diet has a devastating effect on hormones in the female body. Female vegetarians often become infertile or miss carry their baby. She misses her menturusal cycle if she does get pregnant the chances of having a deformed baby is extremal high because of he phyotenous in a soy diet. Many primitive countries placed newly weds on a high meat diet because it promotes fertilization in some primitive countries mothers are charged with child abuse for feeding thier off springs vegan diets.

For example, the French have one of the highest per capita consumption of meat, yet have low rates of heart disease. In Greece, meat consumption is higher than average but rates of heart disease are low there as well.

Myth: Vitamin B12 can be obtained from certain plant sources such as blue-green algae and soy products.

Truth: Vitamin B12 is not absorbed from plant sources. Modern soy products increase the body's need for B12. (Soybeans: Chemistry & Technology Vol 1 1972)

Argentina, with higher beef consumption, has lower rates of colon cancer than the US. Mormons have lower rates of colon cancer than vegetarian Seventh Day Adventists (Cancer Res 35:3513 1975)

Myth: Soy foods provide complete protein.

Truth: Like all legumes, soy beans are deficient in sulfur-containing amino acids methionine and cystine. In addition, modern processing denatures fragile lysine.

Myth: Fermented soy foods can provide vitamin B12 in vegetarian diets.

Truth: The compound that resembles vitamin B12 in soy cannot be used by the human body; in fact, soy foods cause the body to require more B12

That vitamin B12 can only be obtained from animal foods is one of the strongest arguments against veganism being a "natural" way of human eating. Today, vegans can avoid anemia by taking supplemental vitamins or fortified foods. If those same people had lived just a few decades ago, when these products were unavailable, they would have died.
