I was just wondering...I know the reason for vegetarians not eating meat, but why not eat dairy products and eggs if the animal is not even hurt in the process? I was watching a show about how ice cream is made and this one place goes as far as to play music and give massages to their cows so they wont be stressed and their milk will be as good as possible for their ice cream and so on. I just don't understand the concept, haha

justttt wondering [:

  1. I'm not sure what their belief is, but maybe they don't want to consume animal products because they come from animals raised in captivity. There can be chicken farms and whatnot but they'd only be used for making eggs, you know?

That's probably how it works. Whatever, there was a test done on different eaters, and vegans die younger because they don't get enough nutrients that they would get from animal byproducts. Vegetarians die a little older than them, and the meat eaters die last.

  2. its bi product.

vegans dont want animals to be hurt,

touched or be made a living out of.

    but its just bi products.

  3. either their religion forbids them from eating God's animals or they are really pro-life for animals that they dont want to harm any of it's produce.

  4. It's called compassion. If what is done to animals to provide food were done to a human being it would be illegal.

  5. The example that you give which refers to happy cows receiving massages is definitely not the norm.

Vegan people do not eat dairy or eggs because in most cases, those animals suffer more greatly and for a longer period of time AND then have to go through everything that meat-animals go through.

  6. Well, spreading information about how veganism prevents animal suffering helps to move individuals (and thus society) away from relying on animal exploitation for a fundamental, daily activity–eating. Once individuals have broken their attachment to a daily reliance on animal exploitation, it is much easier for them to reject all animal exploitation, rather than just the high-profile abuses committed by others. As more people understand and act by the tenets of veganism, it will be significantly easier for others to join them. This will bring pressure to bear on other animal issues, and achievement of our goals will be accelerated.

Many activists believe the health argument to be the most effective for promoting vegetarianism because it is the least threatening and appeals to people’s self-interest.

In general, people do not want to believe that they are supporting cruelty by eating animal products. They don’t want to give up convenience and their favorite foods, and they don’t want to separate themselves from their friends and family. So it is unlikely that people will even listen to our message–let alone think about changing–if they perceive vegans as joyless misanthropes.

    Practical and Symbolic Vegans

    --------------------------------------...

Most vegans have multiple motivations, but primary motivations often distinguish vegans, such as "health vegans" or "spiritual/religious vegans." I see another type of distinction as being useful: "practical vegans" and "symbolic vegans." Practical vegans avoid the specific products for which animals are bred, raised, and eventually slaughtered. Every product they choose to avoid can be directly and causally linked to animal suffering. Symbolic vegans, in addition to avoiding those products, go beyond this to some level (e.g., avoiding sugar but not water) so as to be able to make a statement (about solidarity with the animals, personal purity, etc.).

  7. unless its for religious reasons, then theyre full of S**t.  Do you have any idea how many millions of small animals are killed every year in the combines of harvesters that harvest wheat and vegetables for their self-righeous moral crusade? Why the double standard? At least Im eating the animals that are killed and not letting them go to waste like vegans, and i dont have any moral qualms about it, either. Time to grow a pair, hippies!

  8. Forgotten friends is a small non-profit all-volunteer organization dedicated to the protection and placement of homeless, abandoned, abused and neglected dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, and other animals. We provide a safe, secure, and healthy environment for a small number of animals waiting for a loving, caring adoptive home. We receive no payment for our efforts, only the personal satisfaction and sense of accomplishment we feel when placing a rescued animal into a loving home forever. Please save a pet with donations or contributions. We will use donated money to open a pet rescue in the Windham area, to try to improve the lives of local animals, and to make a real difference. We also accept aluminum cans and pet supplies. For more information or to schedule a pick up of donations, or to schedule volunteer time, please call us. For the betterment of the lives of stray, abandoned, and special needs cats and dogs, our goal is to;

  9. because if you was a cow or chicken or something (not saying you are) would you like to give away your eggs or milk?

And also the animal is bred so they can kill them for food and milk or eggs etc. unlike in the stone age time where animals were wild and not in captivity. Some animals are treated badly and that's why we always buy organic and free range products.

And back to where I left the last bit it's more of what people believe like some people believe in god and some don't.

  10. A lot of places dont play music for their cows. Vegans dont eat meat or animal byproducts because they feel the animal uses those things for its own survival. Milk for baby calves, eggs for new baby chickens, etc, etc.
