  1. some people do iy yo keep their fingers from bending to far back are maybe they hurt it and sometimes yo make it look good

  2. When setters run a 5-1 or a 6-2, they also have to block.  Sometimes fingers get jammed.  And some setters tape them.   And they tape their other fingers to lessen the chance of their other fingers getting jammed.  Other setters see the tape on the setters fingers and decide that they did the taping to help their setting and taped all of their fingers to help them set.  Taping your fingers does not help you set.  It just helps your fingers be protected from getting jammed.

And I am sure that with your stats, you use all 8 fingers and 2 thumbs when you set.  (When I used to play all the time, we used to joke that only middle blockers used 3 fingers to set the ball.  That is not true any more.  With the rules allowing the first contact with the hands, everyone trains using their hands.)  Congratulations on your season.  Roughly 35 assists per game is very good. That means you are a good setter AND you had good hitters.

  3. Well, since you're only techically supposed to use the three fingers, some people think its better to get the others out of the way. I think you're right, though. It's always been easier for me without tape.

  4. Im not a setter but........ for some people it might work better for them!!! and congrats thats AWESOME!!!!! :)))))))

  5. 1> Tape helps on protecting fingers (especially nails :) when blocking.

2> Some players got hurt in the past so that some taping could help strengthen their fingers. I just got off taping after playing with them for about ten months.

You won't need tape if you never got hurt.

  6. i was a setter and a middle last season and i have never seen this. but im gonna say its because if the ball is comming down really hard maybe its to keep their fingers from breaking or being stoved because if that happends your pretty much screwed for a while

  7. So they dont hurt their fingers from setting a ball that is coming at them too fast. Have you ever set a ball and it bent all your fingers back? yeah not so fun lol, so they tape their fingers to try and prevent that from happening.

  8. i'm a setter, and i use tape because i have really bad fingers that get jammed a lot. the tape kinda stiffens the finger, making me have less of a chance of hurting it. plus it's kind of a superstitious thing. i feel as if i play better when i have tape on them.

  9. I'm a setter and i broke my right index finger last year.  i taped it to my middle finger whenever i played for a few months because it would hurt otherwise.  basically its for weaker or injured fingers- i only use it for when my fingers or knuckles are in pain, so I'm not really sure if there's any other reason to tape your fingers up. : )
