Why do waiters think that it is ok to flirt or hit on me when i am with my mom??????

i am 16. this has happened a couple times now.

a couple months ago i was eating with my mom at this restaurant and this guy was trying to flirt with me and my mom even noticed he liked me she said i think he likes you and he came back to our table about 10 times and noone elses. when it isn't even the type of restaurant where the server is supposed to check back with you. at least this guy was my age.....

and then yesterday this guy who was like 23 years old kept trying to joke with me and told my mom that my pina colada should have alcohol in it! then he kept trying to ask me when my spring break was and try to poke fun at how much i ate and and he kept talking and talking whatever.

why do these people do this in front of my mom don't they know this is so embarrasingly weird???? do you think this is ok or inappropriate???? i am 16.

i think it's okay,  i mean, its kinda their job to make small talk and stuff like in the second situation, plus they get a better tip if you like them more

heck yes it is embarassing.Well it must feel bad and I really feel bad for you , but try to ignore comments or questions you don't like.If they keep on commenting stand up for yourself and say something.Hopefully you will be alright,I feel bad .Hope this helps

They should have sense enough to not do it in front of your Mother.  They probably think they will never see you again and just can't resist the urge to flirt with a pretty girl.

They are showing bad judgment and immaturity when doing it in front of your Mother.  Sorry that you have to be embarrased.
