Why do wasps follow people?

Whenever we come across a wasp it follows one of us. Does anyone know why they follow people?

  1. It is probably trying to defend its territory or nest.  It is trying to chase you away.


  2. I believe that wasps are kind of like killer bees and follow you because of the Carbon Dioxide in your breath.
