  2. Asking for a check seems for proper for restaurants than saying here is your bill ... bill reminds me of utilities, car payments, etc ...

    umm....maybe because when when think of a bill, its paying something of high cost and a check is a smaller amout.

    lol.

  6. Funny thing is I just asked my husband this same question yesterday when we were eating out. the waiter said I will bring your check but it was a bill. I guess it just sounds nicer saying it that way than I will  bring your bill.:)

  8. Thats just a fancy name for the bill. If you are eating in a diner they will give you your bill. If its in a fancy restaurant they will give you your cheque.

  9. i think they are trying to make it sound nicer. i mean who wants a bill? personally I asked for the BILL as that is what it is.
