Why do we can this region "Latin America"?

  1. There are a couple reasons why, people and scholars will probably be more leaned towards one over the other.

    Latin America is more like a cultural region; located in the American continent. Latin America; Latin because in this area we primarily speak Latin-derived Romance languages (primarily Spanish, Portuguese and to a lesser extent French, ect.); America because, as i said before, this it is located in the Americas (American continent).

    Also, there was a political term that was once used by Napoleon, "Amérique latine" it is French and translated to "América Latina" in Spanish and "Latin America" in English. The French term, as used by Napoleon, meant (at the time) those parts of the Americas that speak Romance languages initially brought by settlers from Spain, Portugal and France between the fifteenth and nineteenth centuries.
