  1. we learn this in science.. after hearing something sad or seeing something sad.. your brains interprets it as sad.. when that happens the tear glands immediately giveout tears.

    ex:

you see a cat getting run over ~ optice nerves sent what they saw to the brain~ brain says thats sad~ tear glands give out tears.

    another example..

see some really nice food on the table~ optic nerves send it to the brain~ brain goes Yum!!~ saliva comes out from the saliva glands..

  2. I think the tears is your body's way of cooling you down when your emotions are overwhelming.  The only creatures that cry with emotional tears when sad are human beings, and it has to do with the limbic system.  It's any sensual emotion, not just sadness, laughter and happiness as well.

Crying is a calming instinct I think. After tears come out, similar to after an ejaculation, there is a release of emotional tension and an ability to temporarily take a deep breath.

  3. mmm ive wondered this too. So i searched it up

  4. I think it must have to do with your hormones.  Teenagers hormones are changing all the time and a lot of them cry a lot. I cry more at happy things..or when other people are happy. Some bad things happened to me and for years it's been really hard for me to cry. It's awful when you can't cry. You've got all that hurt and pain inside of you and no way to let it out. I think that's why ...when people go through trauma...they don't always act the  way you'd expect them to act. It does something to you. Doesn't mean that they're a "cold" person..just means they have what's called "frozen emotions".  It's not their fault. They can be in horrible grief & pain inside..but can't express it. So go easy on them and don't judge.

Edit..I remember this guy in High School..(who later became a DJ) mentioning in Biology or Science class about "water' coming out of his eyes when he was sad. (He didn't want anyone to know he "cried". ) lol

Edit..I think most people don't realize how lucky they are if they can cry. It's such a great release for stress. You should NEVER tell anyone not to cry...even if they're a guy!

  5. Shivering is a natural body reaction when we are cold. Body moves by shivering to warm us.

Crying is a natural reaction for an emotion that we cannot truly express, whether it is sadness, happiness, frustration, hunger, pain (for babies)etc.

In order for the body to relieve us of that burden or stress, we cry.

Biologically speaking, we sob out manganese, an element that is believed to increase our stress levels.

  6. I'll answer your question metaphysically. According to Ayurveda (Ancient Indian Medicine) water represents human emotions, and emotions are the physical representation of what our soul is feeling. When mentally and physically we are overwhelmed with an emotion, such as sadness or even joy, water (tears) will release from our eye ducts. It's also interesting to state that our 'Eyes are the windows to our soul'...so having emotions (crying) released from a part of our body that is closely connected to our soul makes sense...Doesn't it?

  7. To guilt your boyfriends into doing what you want them to.

    :-)

But seriously, I don't know if there is a solid evolutionary or physiological explanation as to why certain emotions manifest themselves as they do.  I imagine there are a number of different speculations out there.
