Why do we do community activities?

I have to write a paper on why we do community activities. I just need a little help on brainstorming some ideas. I thought of better health, helping other people, you learn some qualities such as leadership. Any other suggestions? and thank you for your help

  1. community service is what you can give to the public . This may be a special skill you what to let other learn from you.

    cooking, health advice,physcial education .etc. You can also learn from the peolpe you are teaching. You share idea and also learn from them

We are basically social people and doing community activities lets us engage in that basic need to be around people .  We also get a better idea of what is needed to make our community better.  We also give advice, take advice, help build better realtionships.  For instance barn raisings, schools, fire departments.  All of the social things that make our little areas better and safer places to live in.  Police departments.  All of these things probably had their beginning in helping ourselves and others.  Good Luck

    - skill development (could be anything from time management to actual job skills)

    - hands-on, real world education versus theory/book learning

    - expand horizons/broaden the mind by exposure to new activities/ideas/people

    - make new friends/opportunity to network

    - increased sense of community cohesiveness

    - improved environment for the residents

    - reduction of burden on local and state government resources

    - improved esteem of recipients who feel valued

    - better quality of life for those helped
