Why do we do nothing when our government blatantly admits to mistakes?

The government has always and and more recently will admit to huge drastic mistakes that we the people should be questioning yet we do nothing?

Recently there was a situation where NUKES were ACCIDENTALLY mounted on a military plane that was supposed to be carrying missiles headed for modification or to be placed out of commission.

There are strict protocols that are followed by military when handling NUKES so what the h**l happpend here? Does the government explain? No. They admit to the mistake and since nothing happend no questions it.

Not to mention one of the officers that was under investigation for possibly being involved in the MISTAKE is now mysteriously DEAD? No cause of death mentioned Ohh and he was just 20 yrs old.

I know not every American knows how the military handles things but when the country is in danger from possible threats we are supposed to know these things. And the military needs to tell us more of what happend than just it was a mistake.

  1. What do you propose we do?  Mount a desperate grassroots movement?  What will that do?  It's a little known fact that your vote actually DOESN'T make a difference.  (I would get into this further but why bother.  Americans don't appreciate statistical models and quantitative analysis.  Anything involving numbers scares most of us)  It's totally insignificant statistically.  There are many political/policymaking loopholes that political insiders know how to disguise and abuse.  We have systemic problems at all levels of the political process.  Most Americans are so uneducated and naive (and are quite content at being so) that issues in the political sphere are of little concern short of what the news wire tells them.

  2. Well, aside from the fact that I prefer they admit mistakes rather than lie to us, perhaps you should consider that mistakes do occur and instances like this the government holds people accountable for them.

As you admit, there is an investigation to determine what went wrong and fix the problem as well as hold the party responsible.

Sorry, the dead 20 year old officer is a complete fabrication.  Officers have to finish college.  Ain't no way a 20 year OFFICER is involved in this.  In fact it would be pretty rare for there to be a 20 year old officer and certainly not in a position to be involved in this.

  3. military and gov are seperate entities. to change the gov you have to vote. and if the dem congress does not see fit to investigate then any conspiracy would be by both parties. had not heard about the young mans death though. i will say a prayer for his family. the military operates on a different set of rules and mistakes will happen, big and small.

  4. VOTE DEM! I'm a Canadian, so I can't help you out much. But the mess you are currently in is tainted RED with blood and Republican banners.

  5. what are you going to do.  you voted and they stop listening.  when will everyone politics is a business.  THEY DONT CARE! stop voting stop watching debates stop giving them money

  6. Minot Air Base has been decertified from any future handling of nuclear weapons. The squadron commander of their munitions squadron has been relieved of command and his career is virtually over. Six Air Force technicians in the squadron have also been relieved of their duties. The weapons which were loaded on the aircraft were not armed and could not have been fired on any target.

The dead airman is one of those who were relieved. The cause of death in his case does not have to be made public, anymore than the cause of death of any other service member. The next of kin has been notified about the cause and that's good enough for me.
