Why is it that we literally have 100000 different fashion designers, stores, and 1000000 different pairs of jeans, and 100000 factories manufacturing all of this, and it all gets thrown away if its not used, and people spend so much time getting "The right size", and getting "The right makeup", people even publish BOOKS on this stuff, down to the smallest detail, like it's SO SO very important.

We have a whole industry, the entertainment industry which GLORIFIES this, and this has all created BILLIONS of dollars for the industries, and also created anorexia, bulimia, misery, unhappiness, debt, insecurity, competition, and all other things.

Also, you can walk into any mall, get fancy clothes, fancy aromas, conditioners, anything your heart desires is yours, yet,

down the street somewhere, someone might be dying of aids, and we have completely destitute people and misery and aids, and so much hardship. it's so insane.

MANY neighborhoods will be poor forever, and the people living there will never be able to pull through, while the rich and upper middle class live like KINGS. Everything they want, SNAP it's right there. They want a new body, a new face, new wardrobe, new hair, new car, SNAP it's there.

They'll be treated better at job interviews, connections, theyve got it made, yet

the poor just get poorer because of all of this.

The rich keep snowballing success after success, getting better and better and better and thinner, and hotter, and more plastic year by year by year, and more more more,

while the poor struggle to just survive but can't make it anywhere because of their conditions and others REFUSING to help them, because theyre poor, and the middle class just rakes in debt trying to keep up..

isn't this disturbing?

That we have women obsessed with the latest skin care, la mer, this that, everyone wants the perfect hair, the perfect nose, the perfect everything....and we have like 100000 companies wasting SO MANY resources to create this stuff,

and the people that work there are also very fake,

not to mention, WHERE IS GOD inn all of this? NOWHERE.

It's totally profit driven.

How can this stuff go onn in our society, and HOW CAN everyone IGNORE IT so blatantly?

Everyone ignores it. literally. no one cares.

Yet we have poverty, starvation and all the other ****.

Can someone PLEASE make this make sense to me?

  1. Your eyes are open!!! :)

There is no sense, no love in greed, lust and the mechanics of profit. There is no humanity. Only the profit matters. The humans become mere automatons, cogs in a machine to be replaced when worn, thrown away.

And people in the west can easily ignore it when they are allowed to wallow in greed, in vanity and excess, in a life filled without hardship, poverty or hard labour.

But bear in mind that everything in life is subject to change - and we must change with it.

Bear the knowledge of this dichotomy as best as you can.

Don't let the stupidity and arrogance of power and money injure you. See things in life as they really are.

Work to improve what you are able to. And know your limits as well as the limits of others.

Accept what you cannot change (and that includes the minds of others).

Teach, share freely and do your best in life. That's all you can do.

  2. The truth is that people cannot fully understand what others go through until they take the time to walk in their shoes. Most people will never do this because as the old adage goes, "the truth hurts". The ugly reality may be right outside the window, but as long as one can draw the curtains down it poses no threat to one's comfy way of life. Our defense-mechanisms tend to block out pain-evoking subjects, and that's why we ignore the suffering of others and instead fill our lives with the small joys given through vanity. It's one of the unfortunate sides to human nature that helps us to continue living, however ignorant we are in the process.

Starvation and poverty exist as they always have, and this touches on the idea of "survival of the fittest". In ancient or prehistoric times the poor would have been considered those without sufficient agriculture/animals/etc to feed themselves and survive. The "rich" would have been those with more than enough to get by, continue living, and create healthy offspring to follow in their footsteps. In today's society we no longer survive on the hunter/gatherer principals; our technology is what drives us forward. Therefore those that cannot even afford food/clothing/shelter cannot easily "move up" in a society obsessed with luxuries. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer because the differences between them become ever greater. At the end of the day our human nature tends to make us selfish, and our own survival instincts are all that matter to us (even when we have all that we could want and more).

I think you've asked a very thought-provoking question, and I hope that people will read it and open up their eyes a little bit more to what's going on in the world. For my part I'll share with you that I was raised "middle-class" with all of my necessities (and more) at my hands. When I left the US to live in Peru a couple years ago I learned what it was like to live in "poverty" for a while compared to the standards of living at home (although I did have a home, water, and enough food to get by). Even then I was lucky because my necessities were met while so many others must suffer every day.

Look at us now. Every person that answers this question is sitting behind a computer screen with at least enough money to have access to this level of technology. We are all eating enough, drinking clean water, certainly wearing clothing, inside of a house that probably belongs to us or a loved one. 10,000 fashion stores exist, but even those of us that do not spend our lives shopping are surrounded by luxuries like a simple indoor toilet. Why do we take it all for granted?

What are we doing right now to help the people in need?

  3. The world's overpopulated.

    greed

    lust

    revenge

    hate

    sorrow

    happiness
