Recently watching a documentary about Neanderthals and Homo Erectus, it was said that they had 48 chromosones but the Homo Sapien Sapien has only 46. Why is this?

  3. what were (and still are in modern great apes) the 2nd and 3rd chromosomes of prehistoric man.. merged sometime around 100,000 years ago to form the modern 2nd chromosome.. and by effect modern man

  4. Some of the old chromosomes joined togther to make longer ones, don't forget, the amount of DNA does not relate to intelligence or any trait like that!
