That guy exploited, rape, killed, and stole form the natives. I think it's disrespectful to our Native Americans to honor a villain. Also in school, they don't even teach about his atrocities but how he sailed his ships and "discovered" America to prove that the world was round.

Also in my home city, there is a huge statue of him.... Do White people really like to honor this guy? What do people even do on Columbus day anyways, have bbqs?

  1. Never thought of that before

  2. Columbus was actually a Spanish Jew, he lived in italy, but in reality Italy didn't excist until the 1800's, soooooo he lived in genoa.

  3. You are totally awesome!!! I'm Native and I wonder the exact same thing...ask any Native and we all know him as a murderer. etc., but for some unknown reason he is a god for "discovering" the America-like we don't have proof Leif Erickson wasn't here before him...

What's even weirder is that Native get a day off that day but others don't...

  4. stop it... if it was black, asians discovered america they would do the same thing.. because natives seemed uncivilized , not cooperate with English etc...

anyway so u arent happy being in America because of Columbus?

    get out hater

  5. i think it started back when banks hours were 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  PAEOPLE WERE SCAMMING TO HAVE THREE DAY WEEKENDS.  (NOW THE SCAM IS FOUR DAY WEEKENDS FOR "THEM" IN CASE YOU DID NOT NOTICE)

  6. Because his visit led to the final colonisation of what later became the USA by Europeans.

Btw, the Europeans didn't actually steal it.  It was stolen from Europeans by so-called Native Americans, as the first humans to colonise America were Europeans, according to new (July 2008) research: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/200... .  You could say the Europeans simply came back with reinforcements and took back what was originally theirs.  Because it's finders keepers, right?  That's why you, not knowing about the new findings, say Europeans stole it, because you believe the "Native Americans" were here first?

  7. Actually, Columbus Day started in New York by the Italians as a way to honor a person who was of that ethnicity who had done something extra ordinary.  Columbus Day is not observed all over, as it once was.  In most states it is not a school holiday, for example.  Unfortunately, it kind of shows the truth of the saying that the 'winners write the history books'.  It will be few generations, yet, I think, before people will really see any change in the decades-old holiday or the telling of the story of the discovery of America.  But it is happening, slowly, but surely.

  8. I don't celebrate him and I'm black and I know the true.  Just like how President Andrew Jackson was an evil man whom wanted to end the Native American race for so strange reason by killing them for fun and by making them walk the "Trail of Tear" and inventing the Indian Removal Act of 1830 and Thomas Jefferson want it too. I learned all the evil stuff we did to the Native Americans for no reason.  Like all those people whom were praise hate the Native Americans for so strange reason. I believe other teachers are scared to teach their students this, but my teacher wasn't he told us the true.  Like how you are going to claim a place that someone else where already live on.  Obvious the Native Americans find America way before he did.  Like when Europeans went to visit Asia they didn't say they discover Asia and the some go for Africa, they didn't say they discover it.  So what I'm wonder is why they did that to the America.  I guess they just was to claim some land for themselves or be known for discover a continent or something.  I still don't know why that lie is still being took.  People need to wake up Columbus don't discover anything that wasn't already discover.
