Why do we have animal importation companies and do they affect the wild population?

I am studying animal care i have an exotics assignment and i have to find out why we have animal importation companies and do they have an effect on the wild population.

  1. The regulations to import animals into different coutries are very complex.  These companies take th hassle out of it for the consumer.

    The downside and the effect on the wild population could be if they allow or participate in the illegal importation of rare or endangered species out of their habitats and into unregulated homes and owners.


  2. where I live the native oysters have been decreasing in number for several years due to a disease.so in order to provide a continuing supply of oysters for people to eat,asian oysters have been brought in and planted in the bay. the asian oysters are bigger and more disease resistant than the native oysters.

    This will effect the native population of oysters,who are already weak from the disease, by having to compete with the bigger stronger asian oysters for food.

    I think in the near future the native oysters will be completely gone.
