  1. Because Shakespeare was one of the first to invent theatre and acting and introduce it to the English. His poems and plays changed the human language, inspiring thousands of artists, poets, authors and actors for years after his death. His plays are incredible pieces of work which teach us about the times back then. Without Shakespeare, so much would be different.

    He was a true genius :) x

  2. Because Shakespeare was a legendary author person...

  3. Because school is the only chance where everybody can be taught about this.  Sure, some will go onto study it at uni or college, but most won't.  It is a classic, a great part of our history and educates us on our culture and history.

Although i am standing up for it, i don't exactly love it.I am in grade 12 and studying macbeth in english.  Oh, how fun life is!

    Good luck!

  4. Because the secondary school educational system is antiquated. It has been like that for more than 50 years, and the schools refuse to change to adopt to our changing environment. It seems teaching Shakespeare is more for the teacher's pleasure than the student's benefit. This, of course, is not a knock against the greatest writer in the English language. Shakespeare, however, should remain in the university environment and should be banned from the minds of mediocre high school students.

  5. You should feel honored, not inconvenienced.  You probably "have" to do Shakespeare because not only was Shakespeare a brilliant playwright and poet, he represents a very important historical and cultural era.  Embrace the opportunity.

  6. Because Shakespeare is amazing!

    LOL

He was an amazing play-wright back then...

He is like a GOD to all actor! :)

  7. Shakespeare has helped shape much of what we know as modern theatre and entertainment.  You cannot deny his influence on drama, nor his brilliance as a playwright.  Is it hard to understand?  Sure.  Mostly because he had such a fantastic vocabulary that our society only has a fraction of.  Learning things are not always easy, and nothing worth knowing or having in the world comes easily.  Complain less, and focus on how it can better you as a person.

  8. Although most people do not like Shakespeare much, he is one of the most famous playwrites there is.
