Why do we have to be hateful to each other?

Why can't we as moderates, liberals, and conservatives treat each other with dignity. We don't agree on the issues, but can we at least agree to be civil towards each other.

It's a question of respect and leading by example.  As an outsider looking at your politics both sides to varying degrees advocate the use of a smear campaigning and personalised politics which does nothing for those of us who are interested in what the candidates have to say and what policies they have on offer.

Normally it's only those who know very little about politics and can only parrot insults they've heard else where who are guilty of sinking to this level.  

But can we really judge them for saying things like '<insert a political affiliation> don't know how to be civil.'  Or all <insert political affiliation> are morons.'  We were all 12 once too.

It is just human nature.  (I understand.  I get banned from Yahoo whenever I ask an intelligent question as well.  For some reason Yahoo hates it when young people ask intelligent questions or try to have an intelligent discussion. Just mention Illegal Immigration and you are sure to get banned.  Makes you understand why it was so easy for Yahoo to give Chinese authorities all the names and emails of Chinese dissidents.)

Yahoo is controlled not by free speech media but a fascicst ideology.  "If you are not with us, then you are against us".  Whoops sounds a bit like the GOP.

Because this is America, and that is the way we have done it since the second general election .... we have ALWAYS had bitter fights.

While it might not seem like it, it actually is good for America, as it always guarentees competition for the leadership, and always the opportunity to dump bad leadership.

Unity to the point of full civility eventually leads to one party which can lead to dictatorship, or totalitarism.

i don't know why we can't.  we all want the same things but have different ideas on how best to achieve them.

i see such nastiness with many crude, lewd and scurrilous attacks on the politicians.  i fear that we already lose a lot of good people who would be effective leaders but they don't want to face the press who will crucify them if they are not what the press wants them to be.

we should all show consideration and maturity and do our own research rather than listen and repeat talking heads.

I'm a moderate independent.. I hate PARTIES !! I love AMERICA !! I would die for AMERICA!!  Americans have forgotten what this country really stands for..And its citizens have allowed The rich and big business to corrupt and poison its citizens into a US vs Them mentality.. Its too late to even think about changing it.. They have won.. We now put whichever party we associate with,first and foremost  above each other and the countries best interests..I sit back and just shake my head.. I've had enough arguments and fights about true liberty and justice for all !! AND,,sacrifice for something bigger and more important than ourselves and our families.. I was just thinking about about that. The old "Why can't we all get along!" saying. I think because we're human, there will always be hate and hypocrisy out there in this world. If only there was more wisdom and dignity in this world, it'd be a better place.
