  1. We don't have to. People have always believed that there was someone that created them. So they only wondered who. Then they thought of God. People split up because they had different beliefs in what had happened and who God was. We don't know anything about why we're here. I guess that's why some people chose not to believe. There was no proof.

  2. Nobody HAS to believe in anything that's why there are atheists.

  3. humans are full of supernatural desires. you don't need an explanation for that.

  4. Ya. Not necessary.

  5. We don't HAVE to believe in anything. Sometimes believing in something like you described gives us hope or thanks. You should just believe what you want.

  6. We don't HAVE to. Some people just choose to. x

  7. We don't have 2, we choose 2

  8. somepeople do and my guess is they fear the unknown

  9. Because the most frightening thing to people is things that they dont know/cant explain. We are afraid of what the afterlife holds for us, so we use these things as sort of a comforter. It makes us feel safe in the world and gives us something to look forward too.

  10. we are never forced. tis our choice.

  11. We don't *have* to believe in anything, but I don't think that's what you asked.

Humans have believed in in unseen/unknowable forces ever since they stepped out of caves and threw rocks at the moon because they didn't know what it was.  The belief in forces more powerful than ourselves is as early as the dawn of man, and developed at a time when we had no control over our environment and no scientific knowledge whatsover.  Early humans did not understand birth, death, or anything else in nature, nor could they control any of it, so primitive peoples developed concepts of supernatural forces to explain everything in their environment.

Then they began to develop stories about these forces, and gave them names and identities they could understand and relate to.  That is essentially the origin of beliefs in gods and goddesses.

The names have changed with time, location and collective experiences, but we still, as a species, have a need to explain that over which we have no control, especially death.  The Enlightenment, the Age of Reason, and the development of scientific knowledge allowed for atheism (which is fine, imo), but I think most people still choose to believe in something (call it "God") that explains the unexplainable, comforts our fears and gives us hope in bad times.

  12. you dont have to believe u stupid t**t

  13. because people need an explanation for things so why not make up something to explain why things happen

  14. Who said that you had to..?

  15. i think it plays on the unknown a bit no one can be sure its true !! but yet so many people do  i think that maybe it all started with entertainment ...what else did people off thousands of years ago have to do for entertainment but tell stories

  16. we dont!

  17. No one says you have to believe in anything.  What you believe in is up to you.  I believe in the God and Goddess, and they aren't unseen to me.
