  1. Because it gives great insight to that part of the world.  How they live and what they believe.  It is also very topical right now with the attention on China.  Gives a unique look on China's oppression on the Tibetan people.  

    I'm going to assume that at one time in AP history, you will look at the history of Asia, that's why they want you to read Seven Years in Tibet.
